Laxita Vinod Sandila from India achieved a gold medal in the women's 1500m race at the Asian U-20 Athletics Championships in Yecheon, South Korea. She set a personal best time of 4:24.23 seconds, surpassing her previous record by more than two seconds. Mehdi Hasan secured a bronze in the men's 1500m race with a time of 3:56.01s, while Shivaji Parashu Madappagoudra won silver in the men's 5000m race with a time of 14:49.05s. India's overall medal count rose to 17, with Rezoana Mallick Heena, Bharatpreet Singh, Siddharth Choudhary, and Sunil Kumar also securing gold medals in their respective events.

The Lakhipathar Forest Primary School in Rangsangi village, Digboi, has been shut down for four months due to government negligence. The school lacks teachers and is in a deteriorated condition. It was established in 1970 through the efforts of concerned individuals and was managed by the Digboi forest department since 2002 under Tinsukia district's Hapjan education block. Although a government teacher was appointed in September 2022, they were transferred after three months, resulting in the school's closure. As a result, students are forced to travel five to six kilometers to attend another school. The local community has appealed to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to reopen the school promptly for the students' welfare.
