Philippine Senate to convene impeachment court next month

The Philippine Senate will convene on June 3 to begin the impeachment trial of vice-president Sara Duterte, who faces charges of corruption and an alleged assassination plot. Senate President Francis Escudero announced the date after the mid-term elections, where the composition of the Senate jury was decided. The outcome of the trial, influenced by recent election results, could lead to Duterte's removal from office.
