White House slashing staff in major overhaul of National Security Council, officials say

Donald Trump is restructuring the national security council. The size of the council will reduce. Some political appointees will leave. Many government employees will return to their agencies. This follows Mike Waltz's departure as national security advisor. Secretary of state Marco Rubio is now the national security advisor. Trump aims to streamline the NSC and align it with his agenda.
