Humayun Kabir a former IPS officer, said, “I will leave politics if I don't drown you people in the Bhagirathi River within two hours. I will not let you people stay in Shaktipur.”
He said that there are only 30% Hindus in Murshidabad, while the rest 70% are Muslims.
The Bharatpur MLA made the controversial comments while addressing a party’s booth workers meeting at Shaktipur in Murshidabad.
The majority of Hindus in this region, are refugees who left Bangladesh to avoid religious persecution but are now facing new threats.

An inquiry by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) into allegations of human rights violations in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal, has brought forward serious concerns including sexual exploitation and other forms of abuse

The details: NHRC's report revealed atrocities including the gang **** of women at TMC office premises and accuses TMC leaders of perpetrating these acts, with some women being advised by police to "compromise" with the accused rather than file complaints.

The fact that West Bengal police tried to silence the victims is more alarming, highlighting how the state government is weaponizing its police force.

Data from January 2023 to February 2024 revealed that three minor girls and 37 young adult women are untraceable as "missing female victims".

Lokpal orders CBI to probe TMC leader Mahua Moitra under Section 20(3)(a) for 'quid pro quo' regarding questions raised in Parliament.

“We direct the CBI, under Section 20(3)(a) to investigate all aspects of the allegations made in the complaint, and submit a copy of the Investigation Report within a period of six months from the date of receipt of this order. The CBI shall also file periodical reports regarding the status of the investigation, every month.”
