  • In the Ramayana, there is a beautiful episode that provides a profound lesson in today's perspective. When Hanuman ji was crossing the sea, a demon named Sursa challenged him to eat him. Hanuman ji was crossing the sea in a small form, but he immediately increased his size so that Sursa could not devour him. Sursa opened a bigger mouth, and Hanuman ji assumed a bigger body to escape from him. Sursa made a bigger face than before.

Hanuman ji requested Sursa to let him go as he was going for an important task. However, Sursa did not agree, and so Hanuman ji assumed a very small form and entered Sursa's mouth, immediately coming out again.

Sursa then appeared in her real form and blessed Hanuman ji, stating that he possessed a great deal of discretion along with strength, and that he would achieve success in his purpose.

In life, all of us face obstacles such as suffering, difficulty, or examination, as illustrated by Sursa in this episode.

There are two types of people in this world: those who have a high spiritual aim in life and those who respect their position, values limited to respect, home, family, and wealth accumulation.

Whenever a person pursues a lofty goal, obstacles like Sursa will appear in their life. Such people may try to block their path, but a person has two options: to waste their energy clashing with other egos or to make themselves small and allow others to maintain their ego while moving on.

If we engage in conflicts with others' egos, a significant amount of our energy and time will be wasted, and we may even forget the goal we initially set out to achieve. This can lead to feelings of mutual conflict and revenge dominating our hearts and minds.

The lesson from this episode of Hanuman ji is that for our goals, it is wise to make ourselves smaller than others, and sometimes the essence of life lies in leaving others to their ego.

Jai Shree Ram Jai Veer Hanuman 🙏
