China’s manufacturing drops in April as US trade war impact starts to show

China's manufacturing sector shrank in April, reversing a strong March performance, as new US tariffs and weak domestic demand weighed heavily on the economy. With the Purchasing Managers’ Index falling below the growth threshold, experts say the trade war with the US and ongoing property troubles are making China’s recovery from the pandemic more difficult.
