US president Donald Trump claimed that Claudia Sheinbaum declined his offer of US troops to combat Mexican drug cartels due to fear. Trump asserted Sheinbaum was too afraid of the cartels to even "think straight." Sheinbaum confirmed Trump's proposal but rejected it, emphasising that Mexico's sovereignty is not negotiable, despite Trump's increasingly aggressive stance on cross-border crime.
