Income and gender disparities in India still significant, says UNDP

India's Human Development Index ranking improved to 130th in 2023, driven by increased life expectancy and progress in education and income. The nation's HDI value has risen significantly since 1990, outpacing global and South Asian averages, fueled by economic growth and social programs. However, inequality continues to significantly reduce India's HDI, with income and gender disparities remaining a challenge.
