Bangladesh set to recognise internet access as civil right
Posted
Bangladesh's interim government, led by Muhammad Yunus, is set to enact the cyber protection ordinance-2025, repealing nine controversial provisions from the 2023 cyber security act, including those criminalizing criticism of the liberation war and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The new law decriminalizes general speech, recognizes internet access as a civil right, and criminalizes online sexual harassment and abuse.
