REAL ID Explained: What it is and why Americans now need one to fly
Posted
Starting Wednesday, Americans will need a REAL ID or another federally accepted identification form to board domestic flights and access certain federal buildings. This requirement stems from a 2005 law following the 9/11 commission's recommendations. To obtain a REAL ID, individuals must visit their state's motor vehicle agency with documents verifying identity and residency.
