US cuts $50mn health aid to Zambia over medicines theft

The United States will reduce its annual medical funding to Zambia by $50 million due to the Zambian government's inadequate response to the theft and sale of donated drugs. Ambassador Michael Gonzales stated that despite repeated requests to investigate the systemic theft of life-saving medicines, Zambian law enforcement has primarily focused on low-level actors.
