Vishal Bhardwaj faced skepticism from Naseeruddin Shah regarding his film Omkara. Naseeruddin Shah initially disliked the idea of adapting Othello. Vishal Bhardwaj then persuaded him to read the script. After reading, Naseeruddin Shah was impressed. He agreed to act as Bhaisaab in the movie. The film later became a landmark in Indian cinema.
