India is strategically planning to become a global shipbuilding hub by identifying coastal land in Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh for mega facilities. A potential Rs 10,000 crore shipyard in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, may be established through a joint venture between Cochin Shipyard Limited and South Korea's HD Hyundai.
