Salt of the earth: Pilot project helping reclaim Sri Lankan farms
Posted
In Sri Lanka, a special police unit is working to revive farms damaged by salt. Climate change worsens this problem, threatening rice production. The commandos use a method called sorjan, planting coconut trees and other crops. This initiative aims to improve food security. Authorities are offering land to farmers for coconut cultivation. Resistant rice varieties are also being tested.
