Who is Panchen Lama– Tibetans urge China to release spiritual leader 30 years after abduction
Posted
On the 30th anniversary of his disappearance, Tibetans and human rights groups are demanding the release of Gedhun Choekyi Nyima, the 11th Panchen Lama. Chinese authorities abducted him in May 1995, after the Dalai Lama recognised him as the second-highest spiritual leader. The CTA calls his abduction a human rights violation, while the US condemns China's actions.
