Italy’s top court rules both same-sex mothers can be recognised on child’s birth certificate
Posted
Italy's constitutional court has declared it unconstitutional to limit parental recognition to only the biological mother in same-sex relationships. The ruling mandates that both mothers be legally recognized on a child's birth certificate if both consented to medically assisted pregnancy and share in raising the child. LGBTQ+ advocates celebrate this as a historic victory, while opponents criticize it as illogical.
