Real Madrid has appointed Xabi Alonso as their new coach, succeeding Carlo Ancelotti, who is set to manage the Brazilian national team. Alonso, a former Real Madrid midfielder, will begin his three-year tenure on June 1st, leading the team at the Club World Cup.
