'I didn't see them as people': French ex-surgeon gets 20 years for raping 299 children over 25 years

A French court sentenced former surgeon Joël Le Scouarnec, 74, to 20 years in prison for sexually assaulting 299 children between 1989 and 2014. Despite a prior conviction for child pornography in 2005, he continued practicing, raising concerns about institutional failures.
