A glacier collapsed in the Swiss Alps. It triggered a landslide. The landslide buried much of Blatten village in Valais canton. Residents had already evacuated. One person is missing. Recovery efforts may take years. The landslide registered as a magnitude 3.1 earthquake. There is a risk of flooding. The Swiss Army is assisting with equipment. The President expressed her condolences. Livestock were evacuated before the disaster.
