Baikunthanath Sarangi, a chief engineer in Odisha, was arrested on his retirement day for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets exceeding Rs 15 crore. Vigilance officers discovered assets 483% beyond his known income, including multiple properties, substantial cash, and significant investments. His bail plea was rejected, and he faces charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
