2.4 magnitude earthquake hits Long Beach, within average range for region

A minor earthquake, registering a magnitude of 2.4, struck Long Beach at 11.34 pm Pacific time on Sunday night. The US Geological Survey reported the quake originated at a depth of 7.6 miles, with its epicenter situated less than a mile from Los Angeles.
