Ahmedabad plane crash: A 'Mayday' call, and then radio silence

An Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, flight 171, crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, prompting a 'Mayday' call from the pilot. The London-bound flight, carrying 242 individuals, including crew and passengers, departed from runway 23 at 1:39 pm. Communication was lost following the distress signal, and the aircraft rapidly lost altitude before crashing outside the airport perimeter.
