Following Israeli strikes that killed senior commanders, Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei swiftly appointed Mohammad Pakpour as the new commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, replacing Hossein Salami. Abdolrahim Mousavi succeeded Mohammad Bagheri as the chief of the armed forces general staff.
