Railways' share of cars' transport sees bid rise in recent years
Posted
Railways in India have significantly increased their share in transporting newly manufactured cars, jumping from 1.5% in 2013-14 to over 24% in 2024-25. This growth, driven by increased rake availability and redesigned wagons, has impacted the road transportation industry. While India ranks second globally in car transportation by rail, it still lags behind the United States.
