Chelsea defeated Los Angeles FC 2-0 in their Club World Cup opener, with goals from Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez. Liam Delap debuted as a substitute in a sparsely attended match. Benfica and Boca Juniors drew 2-2, Argentine players Di Maria and Otamendi scored for Benfica. Flamengo also secured a 2-0 victory against Esperance in Group D.
