HC commutes rapist-killer's death penalty to 50-year term

The Calcutta High Court changed Suresh Paswan's death sentence. Paswan was convicted for raping and murdering a toddler in Kolkata in 2013. The court cited his mild mental disability and deemed the crime not in the 'rarest of rare' category. He will now serve life imprisonment without remission for 50 years.
