QS World University Rankings 2026: IIT Delhi leads the way, see the full list of Indian universities and their rankings

India has marked its strongest performance in the QS World University Rankings 2026, with 54 institutions featured—up from 46 last year. IIT Delhi led the national list at joint 123rd, its best-ever rank, followed by IIT Bombay and IIT Madras. While India is now the fourth most represented country globally, challenges persist in attracting international students and improving faculty-student ratios. Nonetheless, the rise of eight new Indian universities signals strong academic momentum in the region.
