Residents of Yamcha, a village near Nizamabad, Telangana, have bravely prevented over 300 suicide attempts in the past three years, primarily at the Basara bridge, a known suicide hotspot. The villagers, skilled swimmers, vigilantly monitor the river, especially during the monsoon, rescuing individuals driven to desperation by debt and family issues.
