Joseph Daniel Schmidt, a former US Army Sergeant stationed at JBLM, pleaded guilty to attempting to share classified military information with the Chinese government. He admitted to offering national defense information to Chinese officials, both in Turkey and Hong Kong, after leaving the military in 2020.
