Maharashtra won’t shut schools with low enrolment, plans to expand access in 6,553 villages lacking upper primary education

Maharashtra government will not shut down schools with low student numbers. Eknath Shinde assured adjustments for teachers. Currently, Maharashtra has 1.8 lakh schools. Around 18,000 schools have less than 20 students. Government will ensure education continues in these schools. Additional teachers will be placed where needed. Construction of shelters in tribal areas has started.
