Mob violence in Assam: Couple held hostage over illicit relationship; police team attacked during rescue operation

In Lakhimpur district of Assam, violence broke out. Police attempted to rescue a couple held captive by villagers in Baliyani Kumbang. The villagers accused the couple of having an illicit relationship. As police intervened, the mob turned aggressive and attacked them. Several people, including police officers, sustained injuries.
