Up to $1.6 million lost: North Dakota’s new funding formula reshapes US Title I distribution
Posted
North Dakota has adopted a new formula for distributing US federal Title I education funds, basing allocations on census poverty data rather than student meal programme figures. The change has caused significant funding shifts, with districts like Belcourt losing $1.6 million, while others, such as Fort Totten, see gains. Rural and tribal schools report concerns about reduced support for low-income students. The North Dakota DPI says the update aligns with practices in most US states.
