Kerala raises legal toddy alcohol limit

A 16-year legal fight over toddy strength concludes. Kerala has increased the permissible alcohol content. The new limit is 8.98%. This replaces the 8.1% cap from 2007. The Supreme Court directed a scientific study. An expert panel reviewed samples. The decision supports the traditional toddy sector. A gazette notification is expected soon.
