Sebi looks to expand mutual fund categories

SEBI is considering changes to scheme categorization, potentially allowing sectoral debt funds and investments in REITs and InvITs. The regulator is also exploring solution-oriented life cycle fund of funds with lock-in periods for goals like retirement. These funds could shift asset allocation over time, becoming more conservative as the target date approaches, with modifications to investment objectives and benchmarks planned.
