Education Minister reports 87.14 lakh dip in govt school enrolment, defends data changes as cause

Dharmendra Pradhan informed Lok Sabha about a dip in government school enrolments. The enrolment decreased by 87.14 lakh in 2023-24. He cited changes in data collection methods. The Minister highlighted initiatives to reduce dropout rates. Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Himachal Pradesh also saw declines.
