Divya Deshmukh made history by reaching the FIDE Women’s World Chess Cup final, defeating Zhongyi Tan and becoming the first Indian to qualify for the Women’s Candidates tournament. The 19-year-old secured her victory with a strong performance, showcasing her positional understanding in the Alapin variation. Koneru Humpy drew against Tingjie Lei, setting up a tie-break to determine the other finalist.
