How the GCC successfully managed 263 million tons of waste without losing control

GCC countries faced a significant surge in waste, more than doubling since 2019 to 263 million tons in 2023, driven by regional growth. Despite this increase, household waste per person decreased by 17%, indicating improved domestic waste management. The region is expanding medical waste treatment capabilities and focusing on recycling hazardous waste to meet Sustainable Development Goals.
