Civil rights, campus politics, and the DEI backlash: Columbia's settlement in context
Posted
Columbia University has agreed to a $220 million settlement with the US government over allegations of antisemitism and civil rights violations. The deal includes reforms to student protest policies, disciplinary procedures, DEI practices, and Middle East curriculum. Columbia will restore access to over $400 million in federal research funding. The agreement also allows federal authorities to request disciplinary data on international students. Over 70 students involved in protests are facing suspension, expulsion, or degree revocation.
