J&K an exception, no delimitation exercise prior to 2026 Census: SC
Posted
The Supreme Court has ruled that delimitation exercises for states, excluding Jammu and Kashmir, must wait until the publication of census data after 2026, as mandated by Article 170(3) of the Constitution. The court dismissed a petition seeking immediate delimitation for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, emphasizing that the constitutional provisions do not apply to Union Territories like J&K.
