A stampede near the Mansa Devi temple in Haridwar resulted in eight fatalities and numerous injuries. Initial rescue efforts were hampered by a rumour of electric current running through the fallen pilgrims, causing hesitation among bystanders. Constable Sanjay Kapoor and local shopkeepers initiated rescues, overcoming the fear.
