Dhampur Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ritu Rani received a threatening text message. The sender demanded a ransom of fifteen lakh rupees. The sender threatened to kill her if she failed to pay. The message referenced the murder of NIA DSP Tanzeel Ahmed. Police have registered a case and are investigating. Security has been tightened for SDM Ritu Rani. The sender also shared barcodes and mobile numbers for transferring the money.
