Southern Oregon University declares financial exigency, targets $5 million budget reduction
Posted
Southern Oregon University (SOU) has declared financial exigency and announced a plan to reduce its budget by 15% over three years, beginning with $5 million in cuts this fiscal year. The proposal includes eliminating 15 majors, 11 minors, and approximately 64 full-time positions. The decision follows ongoing financial challenges linked to state funding issues, rising costs, and reduced student support under the Trump administration, as reported by OPB.
