Medha Patkar defamation case: SC confirm activist's conviction in defamation case by VK Saxena; sets aside Rs 1 lakh penalty
Posté
The Supreme Court upheld Medha Patkar's conviction in a defamation case initiated by VK Saxena. However, the court removed the Rs 1 lakh penalty previously imposed. A Delhi court had earlier issued a warrant against Patkar for not complying with the sentencing order. The Delhi High Court had also supported Patkar's conviction, stating that her challenge relied on minor technicalities.
