Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman criticized opposition parties for boycotting the Income Tax Bill discussion in Rajya Sabha, despite prior agreement for 16-hour debates in both houses. The Bill, already passed by Lok Sabha, aims to simplify direct tax laws and will replace the 1961 Act, effective April 1, 2026.
