Trump's $584m UCLA funding freeze partially overturned: Here's why that's a major blow to political interference in science
Posted
A US federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to restore some research grants to UCLA that were suspended in July. The decision affects around 300 NSF-funded projects, part of a wider $584 million funding freeze linked to civil rights allegations. Judge Lin ruled the suspensions violated an earlier injunction and dismissed the administration's distinction between "suspensions" and "terminations." UCLA faces a $1 billion settlement demand, and the administration has one week to comply or appeal.
