Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Khalistani terrorist declared as a "wanted terrorist" by the Indian government, was shot dead at Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara, Surrey, Canada.

In 2022, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) declared a reward of Rs 10 lakh on Nijjar after accusing him of conspiring to kill a Hindu priest in Jalandhar, Punjab.

Earlier, the NIA had also filed a chargesheet against Nijjar in a case of conspiracy to commit terrorist acts against India.
