In a major shift from colonial practice, Indian Navy is all set to celebrate Navy Day on Sindhudurg fort as a tribute to Ch. Shivaji Maharaj and his foresight in building a formidable naval force.

The president of Bharat, Smt Draupadi Murmu ji and the PM are expected to attend.

Sindhudurg fort has been around for about 350 years, but in the last 75 years of independence, not once did the Indian Navy consider doing something like this to honour Shivaji Maharaj, because the then political leadership simply did not have the will.
