Birth certificates can now be used as a single document for :
- Admission to an educational institution
- Getting a driving licence, Aadhaar and passport.
- Appointment to a govt. job
- Preparing voter list
This applies for people born on or after 1st Oct 2023.
Apart from this,
1) It is compulsory for all medical institutions to give a cause of death certificate to registrar and a copy of it to the nearest relative.
2) In case of birth registration, Aadhaar numbers of parents should be collected.
3) Registration process of orphans, adopted, surrogated children and children with single parent or unwed mother will be facilitated.
This is a great amendment to the law to bring uniformity in the documents for the generations to come.
