Tamil Nadu- In a Big win for hindus & poor artesians and setback for DMK govt, The Madras HC permits manufacturing and sale of Ganesh idols subject to immersion norms.

The court further observed that it would be illegal on the part of the police to prevent the manufacturing and sale of eco-friendly idols. If the police or other authorities indulge in such an act, they will have to pay damages if the aggrieved party seeks legal remedy.

The seller has to make a record and only sell eco-friendly idols for immersion in any water body.
