Modi Govt has notified the Fact Check Unit under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting's PIB as the fact check unit of the Central government.

Now PIB Fact Check will check the facts related to the decisions of the Center and the information related to it available in the public domain.

Social media platforms who do not take down fake news notified by the fact check unit will lose safe harbour from legal liability for such articles.
